Berlocq reaches quarterfinals in Chile

VINA DEL MAR, Chile, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Carlos Berlocq reached the quarterfinals of the Movistar Open Thursday with a three-set win over defending champion Luis Horna in Vina del Mar, Chile.

This is the ATP's first clay-court tournament of the year.

Berlocq outlasted Horna 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) to set up a quarterfinal meeting with Fernando Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Diego Hartfield.

Another quarterfinal will send Santiago Ventura against Fabio Fognini. Ventura defeated Sergio Roitman 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) and Fognini beat David Marrero 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3.
