DETROIT, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Tomas Holmstrom and Nicklas Lidstrom scored third-period goals Wednesday to rally Detroit past Phoenix 3-2.

Detroit won its fifth straight and raised its league-leading record to 38-10-4. The Red Wings have a 12-point lead over Ottawa in the race for the best record in the NHL.

Holmstrom tied the game 9:09 into the third period and Lidstrom delivered the game-winner 2:23 later. Henrik Zetterberg, who had missed Detroit's previous two games with back problems, also scored.

Chris Osgood made 32 saves to win for the 21st time this season.

Phoenix, which had a three-game winning streak snapped, got goals from Martin Hanzal and Ed Jovanovski along with 36 saves from Ilya Bryzgalov.

Osgood preserved the victory by stopping Shane Doan on a short-handed breakaway with 32 seconds left in the contest.
