James wants Cavaliers to pursue Jason Kidd

PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- All-star forward LeBron James thinks the Cleveland Cavaliers should pursue a trade for New Jersey Nets point guard Jason Kidd.

James spoke with the Akron Beacon Journal following a shoot-around Wednesday before Cleveland continued a three-game West Coast road swing with its contest at Portland.

"I would love to have a guy like Jason Kidd to be a part of this franchise," James said. "Honestly, when you see Jason Kidd wants to be traded, you shouldn't have to go to the front office and tell them to get on it. It's Jason Kidd.''

The point guard said earlier this week that he felt it was time to move on and that the Nets would be better off trying to make a deal while he had some value.

The former all-star's trade demand first surfaced last month after New Jersey rejected his request for a contract extension.
