
HOUSTON, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Yao Ming had 36 points and 19 rebounds Tuesday, powering the Houston Rockets to a 111-107 victory over the Golden State Warriors.
Houston played without Tracy McGrady, who was out with flu-like symptoms.
Yao scored the final nine points for Houston, which has won five of its last six games. Luther Head had 20 points and six assists, and Rafer Alston 17 points and 12 assists for the Rockets.
Stephen Jackson scored 25 points and Baron Davis 21 for the Warriors, who had won seven of nine previously.
Earlier Tuesday, the Warriors announced forward Chris Webber, who started his NBA career with Golden State, is returning to the Warriors. A San Francisco newspaper reported Webber will receive the prorated veteran's minimum of $1.2 million, which amounts to about $600,000 for the rest of the season.
