BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Sophomore guards Jerome Dyson and Doug Wiggins have been suspended indefinitely from the University of Connecticut basketball team for violating team rules.

Their suspensions were announced by Coach Jim Calhoun.

"It obviously isn't something that is making me particularly happy," Calhoun told the Hartford Courant Friday when the Huskies' plane landed in Bloomington for Saturday's contest against No. 8 Indiana. "I took the action based upon what I felt was in the best interest of our basketball team and the university."

Neither player made the trip.

Dyson, a 6-foot-4, 190-pounder from Rockville, Md., is the second-leading scorer for the 13-5 Huskies at 14.3 points per game. He had started the previous 18 games.

The 6-foot-1, 165-pound Wiggins, from East Hartford, has led UConn's reserves by scoring 6.6 points per game off the bench.
