KAHUKU, Hawaii, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Gil Morgan made two eagles in a four-hole stretch Friday and took a two-shot lead after one round of the Turtle Bay Championship.

Morgan, 61, shot a 7-under 65 over the Palmer Course at Turtle Bay Resort. He chipped in for an eagle at the par-5 ninth and then eagled the par-5 12th with a 35-foot putt.

Morris Hatalsky was alone in second at 67 while Tom Kite and Bernhard Langer led a group at 68.

"It was really fun," Morgan said. "I got started and didn't think anything was going to happen. All of a sudden I made a couple and chipped in for eagle then made another birdie at 11 and made eagle at 12. So it was pretty fast and furious for a while."

Ben Crenshaw shot a 69 to share 10th place while defending champion Fred Funk shot a 70.

Funk won the event by 11 shots last year.
