OAKLAND, Calif., Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Monta Ellis scored 39 points Thursday and Golden State held on down the stretch to defeat New Jersey 121-119.

The Nets lost their seventh straight game.

Golden State trailed by eight going into the final quarter, but began the period with a 25-4 run to take control.

New Jersey rallied back to within three and had a chance to get closer when Vince Carter tried to draw a foul as he put up a shot with nine seconds to go. No foul was called and Carter missed the shot as well.

Kelenna Azubuike then made two free throws for the Warriors to give them a five-point advantage. Bostjan Nachbar hit a three-point shot for New Jersey just before the buzzer to account for the final score.

Baron Davis added 25 points for the Warriors and Al Harrington had 19. The Nets were paced by Richard Jefferson with 34.
