TORONTO, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Mats Sundin scored on a rebound with 29.2 seconds remaining Wednesday, giving Toronto a 3-2 victory over Washington.

Alex Steen assisted on the winning score and also had a goal, helping the Maple Leafs win their fourth game in five outings. Vesa Toskala won his fourth straight start by making 30 saves.

Alex Ovechkin produced one of Washington's goals, his league-leading 39th. Ovechkin extended his point streak to six games, during which he has seven goals and four assists.

The Capitals were trying for their first five-game winning streak in almost seven years.

Toronto won in its first game under new General Manager Cliff Fletcher, who replaced the dismissed John Ferguson Tuesday.
