Davenport to join U.S. Fed Cup team

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Jan. 23 (UPI) -- The United States Tennis Association announced Wednesday Lindsay Davenport has joined the American Fed Cup team.

Davenport will be part of the squad that will meet Germany in the quarterfinals next week in La Jolla, Calif.

Lisa Raymond, Ashley Harkleroad and Laura Granville also will be on the team. The matches are scheduled for Feb. 2-3.

"I am very happy to begin our pursuit of the 2008 Fed Cup title with Lindsay, Lisa, Ashley and Laura and to bring Fed Cup to La Jolla and southern California for the first time," U.S. Fed Cup captain Zina Garrison said.

Davenport has a 31-2 record in Fed Cup play. She made her Fed Cup debut 15 years ago.
