NHL's Moore says private eyes dogged him

Published: Jan. 22, 2008 at 9:29 AM

TORONTO, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Former Colorado Avalanche player Steve Moore says private investigators parked outside his parents' Toronto-area home several times last year.

Sources told the Toronto Star that Moore, who is suing the Vancouver Canucks for $38 million in lost income and damages for a career-ending injury, contacted York Regional Police to complain about the surveillance last summer.

The source said police were told by the investigators they were working on unrelated cases nearby.

Moore's neck was broken when he was struck from behind by the Canucks' Todd Bertuzzi (now with the Anaheim Ducks), who pleaded guilty to criminal assault in Vancouver and was suspended for the remainder of the 2003-04 NHL season.
