Norm Chow joins UCLA football staff

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Norm Chow, who was offensive coordinator at Southern California and then for the NFL Tennessee Titans, has joined the football coaching staff at UCLA.

New UCLA Bruins Coach Rick Neuheisel on Monday said Chow would be the team's offensive coordinator.

Chow had interviewed for the Bruins' head coaching position, which went to Neuheisel.

"Norm brings great offensive expertise to the job," said Neuheisel. "He has enjoyed tremendous success throughout his career and has been the architect of some of the most explosive offenses in college football history. We are thrilled that Norm has decided to become a Bruin. What youngster who plays offense in high school wouldn't be excited about playing for a school with Norm Chow as its offensive coordinator?"

Chow was the offensive coordinator under Southern Cal Coach Pete Carroll for four seasons, including the Trojans' 2004 BCS title run. The last three seasons he was the offensive coordinator for the Titans.

UCLA was next-to-last in total offense and score in the Pac-10 Conference last season.
