Kaymer, Trahan climb up golf rankings

WASHINGTON, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- German golfer Martin Kaymer climbed 42 places to No. 34 in the official World Golf Ranking Monday, following his weekend victory in the Abu Dhabi Championship.

Kaymer, 23, who was chosen as the top rookie on the European Tour last year, now has two tour wins.

D.J. Trahan made the biggest jump in the weekly ranking. Trahan, who posted his second PGA Tour win in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, gained 114 spots and is now 113th on the list.

The top eight players are the same as last week: Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Ernie Els, Justin Rose, K.J. Choi and Adam Scott.

Rory Sabbatini and Padraig Harrington swapped places. Sabbatini is now No. 9 and Harrington No. 10.
