Chicago boxer dies in first title fight

RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Gavin Grant had 24 points, including a layup with 2.1 seconds remaining in overtime, Saturday to give North Carolina State a 79-77 win over No. 24 Miami (Fla.).
Brandon Costner added 16 points for the Wolfpack (12-5, 1-2 ACC). Courtney Fells and J.J. Hickson each had 14 points in the victory.
Jack McClinton scored 26 points for the Hurricanes (14-3, 1-2), who have lost two straight after a 14-1 start. Anthony King and Raymond Hicks each scored 13 points for Miami.
N.C. State was trailing 77-75 with 15 seconds left in overtime, when Hickson tipped in a Grant miss to tie the game with four seconds left. Grant then stole the inbounds pass and put in a reverse layup.
