Florida's Jacques Martin became the 10th NHL coach to reach 500 wins in a career. He is tied with Toe Blake for ninth most victories in league history.

Martin Brodeur shut Florida out for two periods with a series of sensational saves, but at 2:28 of the third Brett McLean's slap shot bounced off Brodeur's pads right to Dvorak. He scooped the puck past the New Jersey goaltender to tie the game.

A shot by Ruslan Salei then ricocheted off the rear boards to Booth, who beat Brodeur with a wrist shot.

Florida had lost in its six previous trips to New Jersey.
