NHL: San Jose 3, Toronto 2

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Patrick Marleau had a goal and an assist Saturday night and the San Jose Sharks used three third-period goals to beat Toronto 3-2.

Craig Rivet and Joe Pavelski scored and Joe Thornton had two assists for the Sharks, who went 3

1 on their current home stand. Evgeni Nabokov made 23 saves.

Nik Antropov and Pavel Kubina scored for the Maple Leafs, who have lost five straight games and eight out of nine.

Vesa Toskala, who came to Toronto from San Jose in a trade last June, finished with 32 saves in his first game against the Sharks.

San Jose was down 2-0 entering the third period. Marleau scored on the power play at 1:09 of the third, and then Rivet scored at 8:31 when the Sharks had a 5 on 3 power-play advantage.

Pavelski tipped a shot by Jonathan Cheechoo into the net to put the Sharks up 3-2 at 10:21.
