Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

IOWA CITY, Iowa, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Tony Freeman had 22 points Saturday to lead the Iowa Hawkeyes to a 43-36 upset over the sixth-ranked Michigan State Spartans.
Kurt Looby had nine points and eight rebounds and Cyrus Tate added nine points and seven rebounds for the Hawkeyes (8-9, 1-3 Big Ten).
Drew Neitzel and Raymar Morgan had 10 points for the Spartans (14-2, 2-1), who had an 11-game winning streak snapped and lost for the first time since a 68-63 loss to UCLA on Nov. 20.
Michigan State hit only 16 of 52 field goal tries and only one of four free throws.
