COL BKB: N.Carolina 93, N. Carolina St. 62

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Deon Thompson and Ty Lawson each scored 16 points for unbeaten, top-ranked North Carolina Saturday in a 93-62 romp over North Carolina State.

The Tar Heels blew the game open with a 34-4 surge in the first half.

Danny Green, Tyler Hansbrough and Wayne Ellington each tallied 13 points for North Carolina (17-0, 2-0 ACC), which is off to its best start in a decade.

Courtney Fells scored 16 points and J.J. Hickson 14 for the Wolfpack (11-4, 0-1).
