EDMONTON, Alberta, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Ethan Moreau touched off a three-goal first period Thursday and the Edmonton Oilers raced to a 5-2 decision over Phoenix.

The Oilers ended the Coyotes' longest winning streak of the season at five games. Phoenix had also won its previous six road games, which was just two short of the longest such streak in franchise history.

Moreau, Kyle Brodziak and Sheldon Souray scored over a span of eight minutes against Ilya Bryzgalov to give Edmonton a 3-0 lead after one period.

When Robert Nilsson made it 4-0 midway through the second, Bryzgalov was replaced by Mikael Tellqvist.

The final Edmonton goal came from Denis Grebeshkov with 1:41 to go in the second, the first of his NHL career.
