Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

BOSTON, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Two third-period goals by Mathieu Dandenault Thursday allowed the Montreal Canadiens to finish off a 5-2 decision over Boston.
The Canadiens have won all five meetings with the Bruins this season.
Tomas Plekanec, Maxim Lapierre and Alex Kovalev also scored for Montreal and Cristobal Huet stopped 23 of 25 shots to earn his third straight victory.
Boston lost its second straight after having won three in a row. Tim Thomas allowed all five goals.
The Canadiens saw a three-goal lead cut to one early in the third period, but Dandenault caught up with a lead pass from Andrei Markov and poked the puck through Thomas' pads for a 4-2 advantage. Dandenault scored again with 71 seconds remaining.
