Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Carlos Boozer scored 22 points Tuesday and the Utah Jazz jumped out to an early lead they never relinquished in a 111-89 victory over the Indiana Pacers.
The Jazz surged to a 20-9 lead on the strength of a 13-3 run capped by two free throws by Boozer. Utah then led by as many as 28 in the second quarter and were up 67-50 at halftime. The Pacers never pressed the issue in the second half.
Boozer's effort was complemented by Matt Harpring's 16 points and Kyle Korver's 12. Utah has now won three of its last four games.
Indiana, losers of eight of its last 10, got 17 points from Dannie Granger. Jamaal Tinsley, back after a five-game absence because of a sore left hamstring, had 13 points.
