COL BKB: Memphis 99, East Carolina 58

MEMPHIS, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Derrick Rose scored 19 points Wednesday and No. 2 Memphis had no trouble in its Conference USA opener with a 99-58 drubbing of East Carolina.

The Tigers advanced to 14-0, getting 13 points each from Andre Allen and Robert Dozier.

East Carolina (6-8) was led by 11 from both Darrell Jenkins and Josh Fields.

Memphis closed the first half on a 14-4 run that gave the Tigers a 43-29 lead at intermission. They boosted their advantage to 20 points during the first three minutes of the second half.

The Tigers went to the free throw line 49 times, making 31.
