Iverson, James take NBA honors

NEW YORK, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Denver's Allen Iverson and Cleveland LeBron James were selected the NBA players of the week, the league announced Monday.

Iverson was selected the NBA's Western Conference player of the week after averaging 33.3 points and 5 assists a game in helping the Nuggets to a 3-0 record last week. He scored 38 points and 8 assists Sunday in a 109-96 victory over Philadelphia.

James, the league's Eastern Conference player of the week, averaged 33 points, 8 rebounds and 8.3 assists for the Cavaliers, who also went 3-0 last week. Sunday, James had 39 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists in the Cavaliers' 93-90 win over Toronto.
