HOBART, Australia, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Top seeds Alona Bondarenko and Vera Zvonareva claimed straight-set wins in the first-round play of the $170,000 Moorilla Hobart International in Australia.

Bondarenko cruised by Jessica Moore 7-5, 6-2 and Zvonareva blitzed Olga Poutchkova 6-3, 6-0 as the hard-court tournament opened play Monday.

Sixth-seeded Sania Mirza also won, defeating Lourdes Dominguez Lino 6-4, 6-0, but three seeded players were ousted Monday.

Fourth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska dropped a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 match to Flavia Pennetta. No. 5 Victoria Azarenka led 3-1 but a right abductor injury forced her to withdraw and allowed Olga Govortsova to advance. And ninth-seeded Gisela Dulko trailed 6-3, 2-1 when she retired with a left hip injury, giving Nuria Llagostera a second-round slot.

Also winning Monday were Jelena Dokic, Meilen Tu and Ashley Harkleroad.
