Tommie Harris' wife dies

CLEMSON, S.C., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Wayne Ellington had a career high 36 points and hit a three-pointer as time expired in overtime Sunday to lead No. 1 North Carolina past No. 19 Clemson 90-88.
Ellington shot 11 for 19 from the floor -- 5 for 8 from three-point range -- and hit all nine of his free throws.
Tyler Hansbrough finished with 12 points and 15 rebounds and Ty Lawson had 16 points and eight assists for the Tar Heels (15-0, 1-0 ACC).
K.C. Rivers had a team-high 24 points for Clemson (12-2, 0-1), while Trevor Booker had 14 points and 11 rebounds. James Mays finished with nine points and eight boards.
