NHL: Washington 5, Montreal 4 (OT)

MONTREAL, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Washington's Mike Green took a pass from Michael Nylander and knocked in the winning goal Saturday in a 5-4 overtime victory over the Montreal Canadiens.

Alexander Ovechkin scored twice and Green added two assists for the Capitals, who have won three of their last four games.

Boyd Gordon and Nicklas Backstrom got the other Washington goals.

Tomas Plekanec led Montreal with a goal and two assists.
