NHL: Columbus 4, Los Angeles 3

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Michael Peca's second goal of the game, a tip-in coming with 5:18 to play Thursday, gave the Columbus Blue Jackets a 4-3 victory over Los Angeles.

The Kings were trying for their fourth straight win after having lost eight in a row.

Columbus took a one-goal lead on three occasions and the Kings knotted it each time.

Sergei Fedorov opened the scoring for Columbus only to have Brian Willsie tie it 13 seconds into the second period. Joakim Lindstrom again put Columbus in front with only 1:29 gone in the second, but Dustin Brown deadlocked things game 58 seconds later.

Peca's first goal of the game, coming 6:05 into the active second period, gave Columbus a 3-2 advantage. Patrick O'Sullivan tied it once more midway through the third on the power play.

Fredrik Norrena got the win by making 31 saves.
