NBA: New Jersey 102, Charlotte 96

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Vince Carter scored 30 points Friday and the New Jersey Nets used a second-half run to fight off Charlotte 102-96.

New Jersey won its fourth in a row, thanks in part to Richard Jefferson's 28 points and the eighth triple-double of the season for Jason Kidd -- who scored 11 points, had 12 assists and claimed 10 rebounds.

Charlotte, which has lost six out of seven, was led by Jason Richardson with 33 points and Gerald Wallace with 25.

The Nets took control with a 15-1 run that spanned the third and fourth quarters.

New Jersey scored the final seven points of the third period and began the fourth with five in a row. After Charlotte's Emeka Okafor made a free throw, Darrell Armstrong made a three-pointer that gave the Nets a 77-68 lead.

Charlotte came no closer than five the rest of the way.
