Davenport reaches Auckland final

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Lindsay Davenport reached the championship match of the ASB Classic in New Zealand Friday by downing Tamira Paszek 6-4, 6-3.

The one-time top-ranked player in the world improved her match record to 17-1 since returning to the tour following the birth of her first child.

Davenport saved four break points and set up a championship meeting with unseeded Aravane Rezai, who defeated Marina Erakovic in the other semifinal 6-3, 7-5.
