Redskins safety Sean Taylor dead after gunshot near Miami

IRVING, Texas, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Dallas Cowboys safety Roy Williams was selected Thursday to take the NFC Pro Bowl spot of the late Washington Redskins defensive back Sean Taylor.

Williams will be making his fifth consecutive trip to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl after a season in which he had 92 tackles and two interceptions.

His teammate, Ken Hamlin, was moved into the starting spot that Taylor was voted into. Taylor was the leading vote getter among fans, NFL coaches and players in balloting that came after he died from a gunshot wound suffered during a break-in at his Florida home.

Minnesota's Darren Sharper is to be the other NFC starter at safety.
