KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 2 (UPI) -- The Kansas City Chiefs Wednesday fired offensive coordinator Mike Solari and three other offense-side coaches following the team's 4-12 season.

Solari, offensive line coach John Matsko, wide receivers coach Charlie Joiner and running backs coach James Saxon were all let go, The Kansas City Star reported.

Only the Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams had worse records, and only the San Francisco 49ers, with 219, scored fewer points than the Chiefs in 2007.

Kansas City managed 226 points, which was the franchise's lowest total since the NFL went to a 16-game regular-season schedule.

Solari has been with Kansas City since joining the Chiefs as an offensive line coach in 1997. He was made offensive coordinator by head coach Herm Edwards in 2006, and the Chiefs scored 331 points -- 15th in the 32-team NFL -- last season.

The Star said Paul Hackett was seen as a candidate to be the Kansas City offensive coordinator. He had that position with the Chiefs from 1993-97 and was Edwards' offensive coordinator for four seasons with the New York Jets.
