NHL: Washington 6, Ottawa 3

WASHINGTON, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Mike Green had two goals and an assist Tuesday, leading the Washington Capitals to a 6-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

Michael Nylander, Boyd Gordon and Brooks Laich each had a goal and an assist for Washington, which has won three of its last four games. Alex Ovechkin had two assists and Washington goalie Olaf Kolzig made 31 saves.

Chris Neil and Dean McAmmond each had a goal and an assist for the Senators, who have lost two straight. Ottawa goalkeeper Martin Gerber was pulled in the first period after allowing three goals on eight shots. Ray Emery stopped 15 of 17 shots the rest of the way.
