NHL: New York 4, Carolina 1

RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Marc-Andre Bergeron scored twice and added an assist in the New York Islanders' 4-1 defeat of the Carolina Hurricanes Monday.

Wade Dubielewicz made 28 saves for New York, which won in Raleigh for the first time since 2004.

Bill Guerin and Ruslan Fedotenko also scored for the Islanders.

Craig Adams scored the only goal for Carolina, which has dropped three of four.

John Grahame was yanked early in the second period after allowing three goals on 14 shots. Cam Ward stepped in to block nine shots the rest of the way.
