NASHVILLE, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- The San Jose Sharks got third period goals from Matt Carle, Torrey Mitchell and Steve Bernier Saturday and beat the Nashville Predators 5-2.

Carle's second goal of the season, four minutes into the third, broke a 2-2 tie and put San Jose in front for good. Marcel Goc and Craig Rivet also scored for the Sharks.

Joe Thornton had two assists, while Evgeni Nabokov stopped 19 of 21 shots for the Sharks, who extended their franchise-record road winning steak to nine straight games.

They also snapped a seven-game losing streak at Nashville. They hadn't won there since a 2-1 victory in October 2002.

Nashville got one goal each from J.P. Dumont and Kevin Klein.

Chris Mason was beaten five times on 29 San Jose shots for the Predators, who have lost two of three.
