NEW YORK, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Brendan Shanahan scored 1:06 into overtime Sunday to lift the New York Rangers past the Montreal Canadiens 4-3.

The goal was Shanahan's 14th this season and followed a Montreal turnover in the neutral zone.

Chris Drury's 10th goal of the season for New York tied the contest 3-3 at 14:09 of the third. The Rangers' other goals were scored by Daniel Girardi and Jaromir Jagr in the first.

Drury added an assist, Scott Gomez had two assists and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 18 of 21 shots in the Rangers' third straight win -- and their first overtime win at home since Jan. 12, 2006, against Edmonton.

Montreal got two goals from Andrei Kostsitsyn and one from Tomas Plekanec, who also had two assists.

Net-minder Cristobal Huet was beaten four times after 21 New York shots for the Canadiens, who had won two in a row.

In man-advantage situations, Montreal went 2 for 3 and New York went 0 for 2.
