NHL: Philadelphia 4, Toronto 1

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Joffrey Lupul scored twice Thursday to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Lupul scored his 14th goal of the season at 17:23 of the second period, and his 15th at 7:56 of the third.

Philadelphia's other goals came from Jeff Carter late in the first and Daniel Briere in the third.

Randy Jones had two assists, while Martin Biron stopped 34 of 35 shots for the Flyers, who had gone 0-4-2 since an 8-2 victory over Pittsburgh Dec. 11.

Toronto's goal was scored by Mats Sundin on the power play at 19:33 of the second. His 17th goal of the season drew the Maple Leafs within 2-1 at 19:33 of the second.

On the power play, Toronto went 1 for 3 and Philadelphia went 1 for 2.
