Anthony, Johnson top the NBA's week

NEW YORK, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Denver's Carmelo Anthony and Atlanta's Joe Johnson were selected the NBA players of the week, the league said Monday.

Anthony, the NBA's Western Conference player of the week, helped the Nuggets to a 2-1 week by scoring 33.7 points and getting 13.3 rebounds a game. He posted three consecutive double-doubles for the first time in his career and had at least 30 points and 12 rebounds in each game.

The Hawks went 3-0 on the week with Johnson, the Eastern Conference player of the week, chipping in 28 points, 7.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals a game.

Also considered for honors for play the week of Dec. 17-23 were: Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki; Detroit's Antonio McDyess; Golden State's Stephen Jackson; New Jersey's Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidd; New Orleans' Tyson Chandler; Philadelphia's Andre Miller; Portland's Brandon Roy; and Sacramento's Ron Artest.
