NHL: Pittsburgh 4, Boston 2

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Gary Roberts scored two goals and assisted on a third Sunday, lifting the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-2 victory over the Boston Bruins.

The left-winger scored his second and third goals this season in the second and third periods, respectively, and assisted on Georges Laraque's second at 13:34 of the second period. Roberts' second goal went into an empty net with about 10 seconds remaining.

Pittsburgh's other goal came from Evgeni Malkin on the power play at 13:04 of the second.

Erik Christensen had two assists, while net-minder Ty Conklin stopped 28 of 30 shots for the Penguins, who have split their last four games.

Boston's goals were scored by P.J. Axelsson in the first and Petteri Nokelainen in the third.

Alex Auld stopped 21 of 24 shots for the Bruins, losers of four in a row and five of their last six.

On the power play, Boston went 0 for 3 and Pittsburgh went 1 for 5.
