NHL: Nashville 3, Columbus 1

NASHVILLE, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- J.P. Dumont and Jed Ortmeyer scored late in the third period Sunday to give the Nashville Predators a 3-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The contest appeared headed for overtime before Dumont and Ortmeyer scored their 10th and third goals this season 34 seconds from the end of regulation.

Ortmeyer shot into an empty net.

Nashville led 1-0 on David Legwand's power play goal in the second, while Columbus center Dan Frische scored the equalizer at 11:46 of the third.

Net-minder Chris Mason stopped 30 of 31 Columbus shots for the Predators, who have won two in a row after a five-game losing streak.

Fredrik Norrena stopped 29 of 31 shots for the Blue Jackets, who sank to 0-3 against Nashville this season.

On the power play, Nashville went 1 for 4 while Columbus failed to score on any of its man-advantage opportunities.
