NFL upholds yearlong suspension for Jones

NASHVILLE, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- The NFL announced Thursday the original decision to suspend Tennessee cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones for a year had been upheld.

The NFL Players' Association filed an appeal on Jones' behalf to Commissioner Roger Goodell last week. Goodell heard the appeal during a telephone conversation last week and made his decision Thursday.

Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season on April 10 for repeated violations of the league's code of conduct, including his role in a shooting in Las Vegas last February.
