
MIAMI, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Vince Carter made four free throws down the stretch in overtime Thursday, helping New Jersey fight off Miami 107-103.
Carter scored 31 points and hit a clutch three-pointer as time was winding down in regulation.
Richard Jefferson added 29 points, boosting the Nets to their second win in eight games.
Miami has lost two straight overtime games, having fallen to Atlanta on Wednesday. Dwyane Wade scored a season-best 41 points, but produced only two in overtime. It was Miami's fourth loss in five games.
The Heat forced overtime when Udonis Haslem hit a jumper at the buzzer of the fourth period. Haslem scored 18 points.
Carter put the Nets in front by two with 10 seconds to go in regulation with his three-point effort only to have Haslem tie it.
Malik Allen's jumper gave New Jersey the lead for good with 2:45 to go in overtime at 100-98.
