SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- An affidavit from former Arizona pitcher Jason Grimsley unsealed Thursday named Jose Canseco, among others, as having taken steroids.
The affidavit was sworn before IRS Special Agent Jeff Novitzky in May, 2006. Grimsley was suspended from baseball last year for violating the league's drug program.
In his sworn statement, Grimsley said he had knowledge of Canseco, Geronimo Berroa, Glenallen Hill and Lenny Dystra taking anabolic steroids
Grimsley also said former teammate Pete Incaviglia had a supply of amphetamines at his disposal and he described a conversation he had concerning the use of amphetamines with Sammy Sosa, Miguel Tejada and Rafael Palmeiro.
The affidavit also quoted Grimsley as saying David Segui had obtained human growth hormone, or HGH, from a doctor in Florida.
Grimsley said Segui told him, "If you are going to do this, you should do it right." Grimsley also said that he himself had obtained amphetamines, anabolic steroids and HGH.
