NEW YORK, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees Wednesday was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after two touchdown passes in Sunday's 31-24 victory over Arizona.

The seven-year veteran out of Purdue completed 26 of 30 passes (86.7 percent) for 315 yards and no interceptions while helping the Saints maintain their post-season aspirations.

It is his fourth career player of the week honor, and Brees is the only quarterback in franchise history to be honored four times.

Other weekly NFC honors went to Philadelphia cornerback Lito Sheppard (defense) and Tampa Bay kick return specialist Michael Spurlock (special teams).

Sheppard had six tackles and a key interception in the Eagles' surprise 10-6 victory over Dallas. Spurlock returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown to mark the first kickoff-return touchdown in franchise history as the Buccaneers clinched the NFC South Division crown with a 37-3 victory over Atlanta.

It was the Bucs' 1,865th kickoff return.
