NEW YORK, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Joel Perrault scored twice Sunday, catapulting Phoenix past the New York Rangers 5-1.
They were his first goals this season.
His first goal came at 3:11 of the first period and the second at 18:46 of the second when Phoenix scored four times to make sure New York would not stage a major rally in the third.

Goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov came within about 8 1/2 minutes of recording his second shutout this season for the Coyotes, who improved to 3-1-0 on a season-high six-game road trip.
New York's only goal was scored by Daniel Girardi at 11:27 of the third.
Backup net-minder Stephen Valiquette was beaten five times on 26 shots for the Rangers, who have lost five of their last six games.
On the power play, Phoenix was 0 for 4 and the Rangers were 0 for 3.
