SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Shaun Hill, making his first career start, threw for one touchdown and ran for another Saturday to help the San Francisco 49ers beat Cincinnati 20-13.
Hill went 21 for 28 passing for 197 yards, Frank Gore rushed for 138 yards on 29 carries, and Joe Nedney kicked two field goals for the 49ers -- who snapped a two-game losing streak and won at home for the first time since the opening week of this season.
The 27-year old Hill was making his first start because Trent Dilfer suffered a concussion last week against Minnesota.
Cincinnati's Carson Palmer threw for one score on 19 for 31 passing for 252 yards.
Chad Johnson made six catches for 78 yards, while Shayne Graham kicked two field goals for the Bengals (5-9), who have lost two of their last three games.
