
SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Joe Thornton had a goal and an assist for San Jose Thursday night in a 5-2 Sharks' rout of Vancouver.
Milan Michalek, Patrick Marleau, Joe Pavelski and Steve Bernier also scored, and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 15 shots for the Sharks, who won for the fifth time in their last six games.
Henrik Sedin and Trevor Linden scored for the Canucks. Starting goalie Curtis Sanford came out of the game in the second period after letting in three goals on 12 shots, and Drew MacIntyre made nine saves the rest of the way for Vancouver, which has lost three out of four.
Michalek opened the scoring on the power play at 11:40 of the first and the Sharks went up 2-0 with 25 seconds left in the first when Marleau scored unassisted.
Pavelski scored what turned out to be the decisive goal on a feed from Curtis Brown at 12:42 of the second.
