Blues get McDonald; Weight goes to Ducks

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- The St. Louis Blues Friday traded veteran center Doug Weight, Czech prospect Michal Birner and a draft pick for Anaheim forward Andy McDonald.

McDonald had 86 and 78 points the past two seasons. So far this season, he has four goals and 16 points in 33 games.

"We're excited to add a top caliber forward to our hockey team," Blues President John Davidson said.

Weight, a 16-year veteran has four goals and 11 points this season. Birner has played in 18 games for St. Louis' American Hockey League affiliate in Peoria, Ill.

The trade also gave the Ducks a seventh-round pick in the 2008 draft.
