NHL: Boston 4, Buffalo 1

Dec. 10, 2007 at 10:06 PM   |   Comments

BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Marc Savard had a goal and an assist and Alex Auld stopped 44 shots Monday, leading the Boston Bruins to a 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

The Bruins played without goaltender Tim Thomas, who is sidelined with a groin pull, and backup Manny Fernandez, who is out with a herniated disc. That left rookie Tuukka Rask or the recently acquired Auld to fill in.

P.J. Axelsson, Peter Schaefer and Glen Metropolit also scored for the Bruins, who are 9-4-1 in their last 14 games. Milan Lucic had two assists in the victory.

Jaroslav Spacek had the lone goal and Ryan Miller stopped just 17 of 21 shots for the Sabres, who have lost three of their last four games.
