The Miami Herald, citing police sources, said that investigators believe that Jason Mitchell was involved in an earlier burglary of the house in Palmetto Bay.

Investigators told the newspaper that Mitchell was at a birthday party in October for Taylor's sister, Sasha Johnson. The house was ransacked on Nov. 18, although the family did not report that anything was taken.

Taylor was mortally wounded when he got up to investigate a noise in the house on Nov. 26.

Mitchell and three other young men face charges that include murder. All are being held without bail.

A report by MLB.com said the deal, reached late Wednesday, is worth $36 million for two years and is contingent upon him passing a physical.

His agent, Scott Boras, worked out a contract that will pay Jones a $12 million signing bonus with a $9 million salary in 2008 and $15 million in 2009.

The five-time all-star, considered one of baseball's best defensive center-fielders, has spent his entire 12-year career with the Atlanta Braves.

In 2007, he struggled at the plate, batting only .222 with 26 home runs and 94 RBI.

With the Dodgers, he will be reunited with former Braves teammate Rafael Furcal, LA's starting shortstop.

For his career, Jones is batting .263 with 368 home runs and 1,117 RBI.

The native of Curacao was second in National League MVP voting in 2005 when he hit a career-high 51 homers.

Sion Bebb leads the Dunhill Championship

MPUMALANGA, South Africa, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Sion Bebb Thursday shot 5-under-par 67 to grab the lead after one round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Mpumalanga, South Africa.

The event is the fifth tournament on the European Tour's 2008 schedule.

Starting his round on the back nine, the Welshman set a tone for other players by recording an ace and three birdies early.

"If I can shoot 67, then I'm sure others can too," Bebb said. "But it is very difficult out there, the toughest I've seen it in my three visits here what with that wind. It's swirling all around and I was hitting clubs too long and too short. Fortunately, I was able to make some putts."

England's Craig Lee and South Africa's Omar Sandys share second place after their 4-under 68s and South Africans George Coetzee and Thabang Simon are joined in fourth place with England's Richard Bland at 3-under 69.
