Travis Henry wins appeal against the NFL

DENVER, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Denver Broncos running back Travis Henry has won his appeal of a one-year NFL suspension for a failed drug test.

Henry appealed his suspension after the league contended he tested positive for marijuana in August.

"We are pleased with this outcome and happy that Travis has been absolved of any wrongdoing with respect to this matter," the team said in a statement.

Henry claimed the NFL didn't follow policy and have an expert of his choice present at the testing.

If he lost the appeal, it would have been his third violation of the league's substance abuse policy and could have led to a lifetime ban.

The 5-foot-9 inch, 230-pounder -- a first-round draft pick by Buffalo in 2001 -- has gained 629 yards on 143 carries with three touchdowns this season.

He has not missed any playing time, and shares duties with former free agent Selvin Young.
