PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Bob and Mike Bryan beat a Russian doubles team in Portland, Ore., Saturday, giving the United States its 32nd Davis Cup title, and first in 12 years.
The 29-year-old twins' victory gave the U.S. a 3-0 lead in the best-of-five competition. Andy Roddick and James Blake won their singles matches Friday.
The Bryans, who have a 13-1 record in Davis Cup play, defeated Igor Andreev and Nikolay Davydenko 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, 6-2.
Russia was the defending champion.
The U.S. hadn't won the cup since 1995.
In singles, Roddick defeated Dmitry Tursunov 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 and Blake outlasted Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (3-7) and 7-6 (7-3).
Patrick McEnroe is captain of the U.S. team.
Although the cup has been won, two singles matches are still on tap for Sunday with Roddick to meet Youzhny and Blake playing Tursunov. But that lineup could be changed.
Russia beat Argentina in last year's cup final in Moscow.
